A Bat In The Zendo

A bat in the Zendo
Flaps around in circles
And chants in inaudible frequencies
He takes his meditation on the wing
And I prefer mine afoot
On some trail, dusty or damp
By the river or on the ridge
So many sutras mention mountains
Countless metaphors have described their nature
But all the wisdom regarding The Dharma
Would fit so easily in any mountain's shadow
Blacking out the pages
With its teaching
